Steve Durbin, Bloomberg TV Interview: The Erosion of Trust: AI, Digital Risk, and the Governance Gap
This past Sunday, Steve Durbin, Chief Executive of the Information Security Forum, joined Juliette Foster, Journalist, The European Magazine on Business Matters to discuss how the breakneck pace of AI adoption and digital transformation is outrunning the policies and regulations designed to govern it and what this means for organisational security in an era of escalating cyber risk.
As Steve highlighted, the threat landscape has expanded well beyond technical vulnerabilities. Organisations now face data theft, industrial espionage, narrative manipulation, and reputational damage all of which erode the trust that underpins business stability. At the same time, fragmented international law and inconsistent regional regulation are leaving organisations to navigate an increasingly complex compliance environment alone.
You have to build regulation that has the ability to be flexible, agile and have to accept that technology will always outstrip it in terms of what happens.
Key topics covered:
- Why regulation will always struggle to keep pace with technology
- The growing role of AI in both attack and defence
- Human-targeted threats and organisational blind spots
- Building resilience for risks we can’t yet fully define
